Just a collection of catwalk images per designer that stood out to me. All pics are from style.com
Even though i haven’t really taken notice of Isabelle Marant’s collections in the past, I thought is was so wearable and fun. The most astonishing part for me was that she had never been to LA before and this collection is completely based on the vibe she got there.
This might be an old hat for some of you, but Cynthia Rowley and Roxy launched a women’s surf wear collection in Barneys NY and Colette this spring. The collection is 60s inspired when it comes to the pastel colored neoprene wet suit and pencil skirt, a swim suit that’s sexier then a bikini and incorporates staples like modern graphical tanks and tees and an oversized hooded sweatshirt. The offering also included accessories like headbands, sandals and bags.
Just stumbled over this and thought it’s absolutely gorgeous! Holly Fulton, Royal College of Art allumni’s 3rd collection. Love the Art Deco leggins and the fun oversized graphic illustrations placed in a novel way on the garments. Available only in Europe and Asia. And the rooster of stockist is a surefire sign for some high street versions.
Oh my – we haven’t even had a real summer day here at the West Coast – yet the first Fall/Winter Collections are showing up online. Pictures from the new F/W 2010 collection by Bodkin, the eco-conscious fashion label by Eviana Hartman (co-author of the Sew-U series by Wendy Mullen). Love reading her blog entries that give great insight into some of the tough fabric decisions she is making trying to balance eco-conscious and ‘green’. Collection is available in Portland at Francis May.
Vain and Vapid‘s summer collection look book just came out and I love all her designs. Beautifully photographed and lovely hand-made garments, this is yet another example of a micro-capsule collection that seem to pop up on the net. More details and shop info here.
I know a lot of crafty friends out there are longing for this kind of stuff: A sticker technology to customize everything from coffee mugs, backpacks, laptops to – you guessed it: sneakers!
Why did I need an article by daily grommet to spark so many possible applications for the sneakart sticker technology that I have been aware of for two years now? Sneaker customization will peak again in about 2 years BUT it’s a great technology to adorn and personalize everything from laptops, helmets (oh my, can you imagine wearing a cute, personalize bike or snowboard helmet, bike frames, chairs, lunchboxes, foxify plant pots and the list goes on and on) Ollie and Zoe have created hundreds and hundreds of designs suitable for any imaginable purpose. And you can even get into designing your own stickers. How cool is that!
But before I start getting my pens out, I just got myself these:
I hell, what am I going to do with the pink zebra stripes first (coffee mug? iPhone back that’s been scratched to pieces?) but the snake skin will go on my computer! And the b/w zebras? Oh I must really be into zebra’s right now… Maybe on a new lunchbox for Leona? Or around some of our bland white storage boxes? A little zebra family hanging out there? Or on the outer rim of my plain white IKEA 365 plates? Just wait and see…
O.K. You guessed it – I am longing for warmer weather here! It’s been unusually cold in Portland, and I started sewing L. some sun dresses in the hopes that it’ll heat up here soon! Then I read this on Daily Candy and remember a link my friend Tina sent me after her last vacation to Cambodia (o.k. that now really makes me envious):
The story of this clothing label that’s produced in Cambodia is not short of inspiring. The founder, Elizabeth Kister, a former fashion editor and creative director at LeSportsac, ditches her hometown NY in exchange for Cambodia after she fell madly in love with the country, people and colors there. She creates Wanderlust and instead of toughing it out in high heels, works now side by side with Cambodian craftswomen to create her summery frocks, flip-flops and accessories. The clothing is available through her online store here. The styles are simplistic, airy, flowing and very wearable. Exactly what you would reach for to go on vacation. I really love the cute racerback-strap on the left.
Jenny Gordy’s new Wiksten collection is out. Lovely photography and simple but beautiful styles. More info and shop link here. I’d love the dress on top. Perfect to conceal that little pouch… More behind the scenes info on her blog.
No more questions asked, this is surely the coolest kids stuff on the market right now. Finger in the Nose, a brand/store from France is directional, fun, well designed and merchandised. They offer 4 themes for both boys and girls that aren’t your average kid collection:
Preppy Rock – when Brit Pop meets Nouvelle Vague: clean cuts and quality fabrics.
Folk Rock – infused with bleached denim and checkered shirts
Rockish – Black leather, slim faded jeans and washed tees
California Dreaming
Available only in France in the Marais district (17 rue de Saintonge – 75003 Paris). Unfortunately their e-store isn’t working yet – but they take orders by phone and ship to the US.
