Screenprinting

Just a couple of pics from yesterday’s open print studio at Modern Domestic.
I tried my luck with printing white on dark colored cloth. Was pretty hard as the paint was very gooey. But with Susanna’s help I was able to get some good results.

Susanna, MD’s lovely printing instructor, who’s beautiful product is currently available at a trunkshow at MD. So if you are on Alberta, you should check it out!

♥ Tribal Patterns ♥

Am working on some patterns for my Silkscreen Printing class at Modern Domestic and had been drawing up some tribal type patterns (amongst some other). Then I saw these pictures on Refinery 29 for their swimsuit photoshoot. The top two are right down my alley. The background art is simply stunning. Check out more pics here.

Below my doodles from Tuesday’s class that I will work on further this week to create a motive/repeat.

Holly Fulton – FW Collection

All pics: Holly Fulton

Just stumbled over this and thought it’s absolutely gorgeous! Holly Fulton, Royal College of Art allumni’s 3rd collection. Love the Art Deco leggins and the fun oversized graphic illustrations placed in a novel way on the garments. Available only in Europe and Asia. And the rooster of stockist is a surefire sign for some high street versions.

I ♥ Sneakart

I know a lot of crafty friends out there are longing for this kind of stuff: A sticker technology to customize everything from coffee mugs, backpacks, laptops to – you guessed it: sneakers!

Why did I need an article by daily grommet to spark so many possible applications for the sneakart sticker technology that I have been aware of for two years now? Sneaker customization will peak again in about 2 years BUT it’s a great technology to adorn and personalize everything from laptops, helmets (oh my, can you imagine wearing a cute, personalize bike or snowboard helmet, bike frames, chairs, lunchboxes, foxify plant pots and the list goes on and on) Ollie and Zoe have created hundreds and hundreds of designs suitable for any imaginable purpose. And you can even get into designing your own stickers. How cool is that!

But before I start getting my pens out, I just got myself these:

I hell, what am I going to do with the pink zebra stripes  first (coffee mug? iPhone back that’s been scratched to pieces?) but the snake skin will go on my computer! And the b/w zebras? Oh I must really be into zebra’s right now… Maybe on a new lunchbox for Leona? Or around some of our bland white storage boxes? A little zebra family hanging out there? Or on the outer rim of my plain white IKEA 365 plates? Just wait and see…

All designs are by Sneakart.

Threadless and Guilt Limited Tees

pics found on  Stylehunting

Looking around for inspiration for prints I came across these RAD (*Shelly knows why I call it such) graphics. These are limited edition boys tees by Threadless, a graphic tee community that invites artists to submit graphics which are entered in competitions, then printed and sold through the site. It’s Threadless’s 10th anniversary and they are available exclusively through Gilt Groupe. In case you haven’t heard from Gilt yet – It’s kind of a fixed members-only online Designer Trunkshow that sells styles up to 70% off MSRP. And that legally.

Here some more awesomeness:

Kinderarbeit?

Last year, i volunteered to create a logo for a preschool that some of Leona’ s aunties started. I chose one of the most beautiful paintings Leona made as backdrop for the Logo. And now, Jade Preschool website is up and running. And I am very proud of my little girl. Does that mean I am exploiting my child?
